Advocate International has launched a new initiative called:
MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR SRI LANKA INITIATIVE
It was created after earlier this year Sri Lanka announced it was facing an economic crisis.
What this means for civilians is that they are confronted with food shortages, rising fuel prices, electricity cuts, and restrictions to receiving life saving medical aid.
Many hospitals are currently in strife. They are not equiped with adequate medical resources
to cater to its large population, more so in a pandemic.
Here at Advcoate International, we believe everyone is entitled to universal health coverage.
Thus, what lead to the creation of this initiative .
THE BURDEN OF HEALTH
Managing health conditions can be a major financial burden on affected individuals in developing countries.
There are many factors that contribute to the ineffective delivery of healthcare services in developing countries. Two of which include poor community health literacy and poor accessibility to healthcare resources.
Here at ADVOCATE INTERNATIONAL, we envision making a notable impact on specific individuals, their families and communities by raising community awareness, sponsorship and hosting fundraisers.

The repercussions and challenges people with chronic medical conditions face in developing countries are hard to ignore.
Although factors such as poor health literacy, low household incomes, low self empowerment and discrimination, poor means of accessing medical help and political instability may not be unique to developing countries, they are however intensified.
Advocate International aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens patients face.

Raising awareness and improving health literacy.
A significant contributing factor to disadvantaged individuals receiving inadequate medical care is a lack of community understanding. Here at Advocate International, we wish to improve health literacy within communities. This will allow individuals and their respective communities to better understand their illness. This will help to eliminate the negative connotations and discrimination associated with certain medical conditions.
